All-new 2008 Honda Accord
The 2008 Honda Accord will have edgier, more commanding and aggressive styling to appeal to younger buyers. A raked-forward stance and bold body-side forms define the coupe concept, while the Accord four-door sedan will keep its basic looks, but adapt some of the new styling flavor.
The 2008 Honda Accord V-6 engine will gain power, but with Honda's cylinder-deactivation system, which automatically shuts down three of the cylinders when they're not needed, shouldn't use more gas. The car will also reprise front-wheel drive and offer four- and six-cylinder engines. The Accord’s i-VTEC 2.4L, four-cylinder will deliver 190 horsepower. The V-6 likely will grow to 3.5 liters from 3.0 and will output 268 horsepower. The 4-cyl models get a 5-speed manual transmission; a 5-speed automatic is available on 4-cyl and V6 models and a 6-speed manual is available on V-6 models.Fuel economy with either engine is expected to improve slightly.
Buyers, who want a new midsize Honda sedan with a gas-electric hybrid powertrain, will have to consider the 2007 Honda Accord Hybrid. The 2007 Honda Accord Hybrid delivers performance through its V-6 engine with the electric motor. The 2008 Honda Accord does not include a hybrid version, until the 2009 model year.
